North Bank Serves the Community

This past month, in addition to conferring a Master Mason's Degree, the Brothers of North Bank have been quite busy hosting events for the Washougal community.  Each year, North Bank Lodge #182 has the opportunity and the pleasure to host two fantastic events focused on our Washougal community organizations.  Many of our brothers turned out to assist with two of our favorite nights: the Washougal Volunteer Firefighter's Dinner, and the Washougal High School Wrestling Team Award's Dinner.

Volunteer Firefighter's Dinner

On February 15, 2012, North Bank Lodge provided dinner to the Washougal Volunteer Firefighters.  While our Lodge members served dinner, our volunteer fire fighters were able to enjoy a well deserved evening with their families.  WB Cobb and his wife prepared a fantastic meal of roasted pork loin with all the fixings!

Our firemen and women were in good spirits, taking an evening to reflect on the events of the past year, as well as welcome new members of the department.  WM Malcolm Parker spoke briefly, after which the Chief MC'd the event, presenting several awards to outstanding members of the department.  Washougal Mayor Sean Guard was also in attendance, who praised the Fire Department for all of their efforts.  He also thanked our Lodge for taking the time to honor those who serve our community so selflessly.

As a thank you for the evening, Washougal Fire Department presented the brothers of North Bank with Washougal Department coffee cups, as well as a donation to the Ward Hoxsie Scholarship Fund.  Their donation will go directly back to the community as one of two $1,000 scholarships, presented to a graduating senior from Camas and Washougal High Schools.

Wrestler's Dinner

On the evening of February 22, 2012, the brothers of North Bank put on its second event in the month of February: a dinner for the Washougal High School Wrestling Team.  Washougal wrestlers had a great season this year, sending several wrestlers to the state tournament.

Over 120 wrestlers and family members visited North Bank for a spaghetti dinner put on by the lodge, along with a little ice cream for dessert!  The dining room was alive with youthful exuberance and very hungry wrestlers!  After dinner, the team and family members proceeded upstairs to the lodge room to present awards to the wrestlers and enjoy a few reflections about their season from their coaching staff.

It Takes A Lodge

Events like this would not be successful without the efforts of all the brothers who took time out of their weeks to honor our fireman and our communities youth.  From the extra efforts by WB Jim Cobb and his wife to prepare the meals, to all the brothers who assisted in serving and cleaning up, it was a team effort to make it successful.  Those of us lucky enough to enjoy WB Cobb's pork loin roast count ourselves as extra-lucky for attending; what a meal!

Please check out other photos from these events at our Photo Gallery.  Thank you to all the brothers who assisted in presenting these fantastic events for our community!  If you haven't had a chance to visit North Bank lately, we encourage you to visit.  We'd love for you to join in the fun!
